Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson opened her eyes into this world on the 25th of October in the year 1984. She is more popularly known amongst her fans by her stage name that had been Katy Perry. She is the possessor of a contralto vocal range.
She is a Grammy nominated artist and by profession is an American singer and a lyricist. She gained fame and prominence owing to her song that had been titled as "I Kissed a Girl" and was released in the current year that is the year 2008. It had been much popular and successful all across the globe. Not only that but she is also much popular and famous for her unconventional style of dressing which is both humoristic and kind of bright in terms of color which reminds one of the old decades. In fact on several occasions she has also employed the usage of fruit-shaped accessories, mostly a watermelon as a part of her outfits.
As far as her personal life is concerned Perry’s birth had taken place in Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara County, California, United States. She had one elder and one younger sibling which put her in the middle, her parents had both been pastors and had grown up whilst listening to gospel music and also singing in the church. While she had still been a teenager she and a friend had come across a Queen album and she had been so inspired by it that she had later gone on to say that from that particular time it had been one of her biggest influences ever. Talking of influences she has also claimed to have been heavily influenced by pop rockers such as Cher, Cyndi Lauper, Pat Benatar and Joan Jett to name a few. Shirley Manson says Perry is also included in this particular list.
Some of the other artists who had influenced her music had been the likes of Alanis Morissette, Heart and also Joni Mitchell. She also terms the Incubus album titled “Morning View” as a major influence. She had changed her surname to Perry owing to the fact that the name "Katy Hudson" had been very close to the name Kate Hudson. Perry had been her mother's maiden name hence she had opted for this instead of any other surname.
