Formed in the year 1993, The String Cheese Incident which is abbreviated as (SCI) is a jam band from Crested Butte and Telluride, Colorado. The band includes Michael Kang (electric guitar, and violin), Michael Travis (drums and percussion), Bill Nershi (acoustic guitar, lap steel guitar, and electric slide guitar), Kyle Hollingsworth (piano, organ, and accordion), and also the Keith Moseley (bass guitar), and, in the year 2006, Jason Hann who is an auxiliary percussionist.
The origin of the band's name is unknown. Their music has components of bluegrass sounds and also rock, calypso, country, funk, jazz, Latin, reggae, and irregular psychedelic. Every member writes real compositions and share verbal duties on their songs and covers as well as their own songs.. After leaving the band in the year 2007, Nershi rejoined them at the Rothbury Music Festival, and is confirmed to play shows with the band in the summer of the year 2010.
After some years of playing local ski resorts and classified functions, the band formed the independent record label (SCI Fidelity), on which they introduced their 1st album which was ‘Born on the Wrong Planet’. The album included melody-driven music with room for creativeness. Instrumentals and covers made half of the album.
