From the Boston, Massachusetts, the Westbound Train is a Ska band, established in the year 2001. Their name appears from the Dennis Brown hit song by the exact similar name. Westbound Train set out their first album, the Searching for ‘A Melody’, in the year 2003.
The band then released their second album which was known as Five to Two, in the year 2005, which showed guest appearances from Alex Desert of Hepcat and King Django. The album was re-released by the Stomp Records on 14th March, the year 2006. Westbound Train was featured on the Hellcat Records collection the Give 'Em the Boot IV in Nov., the year 2004. In Jan., year 2006, Hellcat announced that they had signed the band. A 3rd full-length, named Transitions, was introduced in Sep., 2006.
Westbound Train played the Summer of Ska tour in the summer of 2006, all along with Suburban Legends, Big D and the Kids Table, the Voodoo Glow Skulls, and the Catch 22. Westbound Train also played the Fall of Ska tour in the ending of the year 2006, along with the Reel Big Fish, the Streetlight Manifesto, and the Suburban Legends. Lynval Golding who is the former guitarist of The Specials is a big Westbound Train fan.
