Based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the Philadelphia Flyers are a professional ice hockey team. The Philadelphia Flyers are the members of the Eastern Conference’s Atlantic Division of the National Hockey League (NHL). Part of the 1967 NHL Expansion, the Flyers was one of the first non-original six teams to win the Stanley Cup, successful in the1973- as well as in the 1974-75.
The Philadelphia Flyers' all-time winning percentage of 0.578 is the second best in the NHL, after only the Montreal Canadians' with a .591 winning percentage. Moreover, the Flyers have the most conference final appearances out of all the expansion teams (15; winning 7) and the most playoff appearances out of all the expansion teams i.e. 34 out of 42 seasons.
The Philadelphia Flyers have played their home games on Broad Street since their initiation, first at The Spectrum from the year 1967 till 1996, and then at Wachovia Center from the year 1996 to the present.
The Philadelphia Flyers have had rivalries with many teams over the years. Historically, their greatest rivals have been the New York Rangers, with whom the Flyers have had many brawls and playoff matchups over the years, and with New Jersey Devils, whom they faced three times in the event since year 1995, however, their most excited competent has been with Pittsburgh Penguins.
