Absurd person singular is a play which was written by Allan Ayckbourn, in the year 1972. This play is divided into three acts which portrays the lives and fortunes of three couples. Each act takes place at a successive Christmas party at one of the couple’s home. The first character in this play is of Sydney who is a contractor, always looking for ways for social advancements, even at a cost of his dignity and marriage.

The second character is of Jane, Sydney’s loyal loving wife. She is shown to be the most sympathetic character in the entire play. She takes refuge in the household chores from the world she lives in and is always ready to please others. The third character is of Geoffry who happens to be an architect by career. He is shown to be a confident man who happens to have several casual affairs. Due to his habit of flaunting his affairs, his wife Eva, the forth character, has become addicted to anti depressants and has even attempted suicide. Ronald is the husband from the third couple who is a banker by profession. He takes pride in his work and enjoys the fine and luxurious things that life has to offer. Ronald’s wife Marion is shown to be extremely eccentric and a snobbish personality

Absurd Person Singular is a play written by Alan Ayckbourn, the play was published in the year 1972. The play is divided in to three parts which are based on the changing fortunes of the three married couple.
