The play was rescheduled to December 4 because of the Broadway Stagehand Strike that happened on November 10 2007. The show was postponed because the strike continued long enough and the opening date for the premiere of the show passed. The play was held at the Imperial Theatre. Originally August osage county scheduled to close on February 17 2008 but due to the strike and date being rescheduled the closing date was changed to 13 April 2008. Both the plays at Steppenwolf and Broadway were directed by the same person Anna D. Shapiro. Ana Kuzmanic was the genius behind the costumes whereas David Singer provided music that was both original and captivating. Furthermore Todd Rosenthal designed the scenes and the surrounding area. These were the important parts which made the play successful. After a while the play was moved to another theatre named Music Box Theatre in the year 2008 on April 29.

The storyline of the play is simple to understand and it has a very interesting and exciting plot that is very enjoyable. The main storyline is that the Weston family is getting back together, a reunion. The story behind the reunion is that in the play the head of the family Beverly Weston aged 69 is an alcoholic. He mysteriously commits suicide one day after he goes missing. The main plot revolves around him as to why he committed suicide and this also reveals the families dark past and previous experiences.
