It is an opera of French origin that has been penned by Georges Bizet. Its libretto has been authored by Meilhac and Halvy and is an adaptation of a story based on the same line. It was initially premiered in Paris in the mid of 1870’s. It was announced as a failure in its inception year but slowly made rapport with both the critics and the audience.
The story revolves around Carmen who is a gorgeous Gypsy with a blazing anger. She soon persuades the corporal named Don Jos as her love interest. When he gets involved with her he breaks up with his former love and turns into a criminal owning to the twist in events. He eventually murders Carmen overcome with rage and jealousy of the thought of her with another. In the modern times it is amongst the most popular and the most successful top best operas of all times.
The art director for this Opra bespoke Bizet for authoring the Mrime's novel in the early 1870’s. There was a delay in the rehearsals owing to the inability of finding a lead actress whereas the piano score took place in the summers of 1870’s. It was expanded to numerous multi dimensional comic characters.
