The Addams family was created by a cartoonist, named Charles Adams. This fictional group of characters exposes a human folly that is found in the ideal American Family. They represent a family who are wealthy, weird and who delight in the most shockingly repellant acts. They are absolutely unaware of the fact that people around them are frightened of them.
The Addams Family was first published in the New Yorker Magazine from 1938 till the years of Addams’ death, 1988. It first appeared in the form of a series of a single panel cartoons. They have now been adapted by other forms of media including television series, films and video games.
The Addams family consists of Gomes (father), Morticia (mother), Pugsley (son), Wednesday (daughter), uncle Fester, grandmama, cousin Itt, Lurch (the servant) and Thing, who is a disembodied hand. Thing is also a childhood friend of Gomez. The characteristics of every family member are slightly altered in the television series according to the demand and likes of the audience.
The first broadway performance of The Addans Family would be debut in 2010. where as the first television series based on the Addams’ was shot by ABC TV in the year 1964. The very famous theme song for this bizarre family was composed by a Hollywood composer, Vic Mizzy. This representation of a strange yet an ideal American family is liked by people of all ages and will continue its to maintain it’s fame due to the interesting individuality of each character.
