Thirteen is a popular musical whose lyrics and music have both been given by Jason Robert Brown whereas the book has been penned by Dan Elish along with the talented Robert Horn who at that time had been the newly joined co-librettist. The main story of this musical revolves around the life of the teenage�thirteen years to be precise, Evan Goldman who has shifted from the New York City to Appleton in Indiana. He is faced with the dilemma of this shift coming in conflict with his Bar Mitzvah. This musical had made its debut premiere in the year 2007 in Los Angeles and had been later relocated to the Broadway on the 16th of September in the following year that is in 2008.

The musical had also made a premiere on the 7th of January in the year 2007 at the venue of The Mark Taper Forum that is situated in Los Angeles, CA. here its ran for a little over than a month till the 18th of February in the year 2007. This production had been directed by the talented director named Todd Graff whereas the choreography had been done by Michele Lynch and the cast and the band that had been featured in it had all been that of teenagers. The respective show had been presented at the venue of the Norma Terris Theater that is located in Chester, Connecticut. It had been presented by the Goodspeed Musicals that had made its premiere on the 9th of May in the current year that is 2008. It continued to run there till the 8th of June. Its direction had been given by Jeremy Sams whereas the honors of the choreography had been done by Christopher Gattelli.

It had been opened on the Broadway at the venue of the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on the 16th of September in the current year whereas half a month later that is on the 5th of October in the same year it had made an official opening. A closing date of 4th January in the next year that is in 2009 has been announced. Amongst the Broadway cast some of the more prominent actors had all been the ones who had been in the Goodspeed production other than Moro, Hammond and Williams to name a few. It also included a teen band, like in the previous productions as well.

The story progresses as Evan Goldman is shown as a cool and popular character who is residing in the greatest city there ever was that is New York. But unfortunately after the divorce of his parents his mother shifts to Indiana. At this time Evan had just been about to turn thirteen, in two weeks to be precise, and he desires for all the "cool" kids at his school to be present at his Bar Mitzvah.
