Time Stands Still is a play which is written by the Pulitzer Prize winner Donald Margulies and directed by a Tony Award winner Daniel Sullivan about changing relationships and making social affairs. It was in the nominees for 2 Tony Awards for the Best Play and Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Play for the Laura Linney. Time Stands Still is set in Brooklyn and moves around Sarah who is a photo journalist who has returned from covering the Iraq war after getting injury in a roadside bomb, and her reporter who is also ex-boyfriend James is swamped by guilt after leaving Sarah alone in Iraq. They receive a visit from their friend named Richard who is a photo editor and who introduces them to his new girlfriend named Mandy.
Mandy is much younger than Richard. They play puts focus on their relationships and Sarah and James' prospects at a more predictable life. Time Stands Still introduced in Feb., the year 2009 at the Geffen Playhouse in the Los Angeles and it was the 4th co-operation for the writer Donald Margulies and director Daniel Sullivan. It included Anna Gunn as Sarah and David Harbour as James, while Robin Thomas appeared as Richard, with Alicia Silverstone as Mandy. The Los Angeles Times declared it a "compelling if at times elusive drama" and appreciated the Gunn's performance.
