The Indianapolis Colts are a professional American football team located in Indianapolis, Indiana. Indianapolis Colts are also the members of the South Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) in the NFL.
The Colts club was officially established in Baltimore, Maryland in the year 1953, but can trace its history to the Dayton Triangles, an initiating member of the NFL that was in the beginning created in the year 1913. After a series of changes, its assumed that the name "Baltimore Colts" should be replaced a previous team that folded in the year 1950. Playing at Baltimore's Memorial Stadium, the Colts team became the first ever NFL team to have cheerleaders, although the Steelerettes, the Pittsburgh Steelers cheerleaders from the year 1961 till 1969, is disputing this claim. The Indianapolis team then relocated to Indianapolis in the year 1984, playing the first game at the Hoosier Dome, which was afterwards renamed the RCA Dome before moving to Lucas Oil Stadium in the year 2008.
The Colts won four NFL championships which included three NFL Championships in the year 1958, 1959, 1968 respectively; and afterwards Super Bowl V in the year 1971 while in Baltimore. After moving to Indianapolis, the team won Super Bowl XLI in the year 2007.
