Little shop of horrors is a rock musical play which has been composed by Alan Menken. This musical, written by Howard Ashman tells the story of a poor florist shop worker who by accident, picked up a plant that fed on human blood. This musical was produced keeping in mind the black comedy film with the same title that premiered in the year 1960. The music composed by Menken represents the rock and roll style of the 1960s.

It was has also been successfully performed and appreciated in Bo coda, Columbia in 2008. This rock musical has gained a lot of popularity among school drama groups and community theaters due to its small cast and very simple orchestral requirements. This musical gained so much appreciation and popularity that director Frank Oz adapted it as a motion picture in the year 1986.
